Using my iPad throughout my MBA has proven to be a great decision. It has become my companion during note-taking, paper-making, keynote-presenting, even photo capturing and editing, and the list could go on.
Now that I am currently working on my dissertation, obviously on my iPad, I came across a slight bump on the road- I wasn't sure if it was possible to create footnotes on Pages. I sure wasn't planning to keep my sources at the end of each of my sentences.
I was already so happy with just carrying the iPad instead of a larger, heavier laptop (which I now leave at home and have made into my desktop; thanks to my iPad). I didn't want to have to start lugging the laptop around just because I couldn't create these footnotes with the iPad.
So I researched and did a little investigation of my own.
It turns out, it IS possible to make these citations! Here's how to create them:
1. Highlight the source you wish to transform into a footnote.
2. Tap and leave the cursor where you want to place the superscript.
3. Tap on the plus sign towards the upper right of the screen keyboard (OR the lower right of the screen, if you're using a physical keyboard).
4. Tap on Footnote (a box at the bottom of your document should appear where you will be able to paste the source you copied earlier).
5. Tap anywhere on the screen to leave the box.
